Kate Waterhouse is the newly appointed Assistant Vice President of the Palm Beach office for Sotheby’s. As such, her responsibilities include meeting with clients for potential consignment, as well as helping to organize and promote Sotheby’s auctions and private sales in the Florida region.
Prior to her running the Palm Beach office for Sotheby’s Mrs. Waterhouse was a specialist for the Magnificent Jewels Department in New York, and originally began her jewelry career in the retail market with Finlay Fine Jewelry in 2004 while still finishing her BA in Museum Studies and Studio Art with Elizabethtown College. While working toward her Master’s in Art Business with the Sotheby’s Institute of Art, she began working with Bonham’s Auctioneers in Knightsbridge, London. Mrs. Waterhouse was hired by Freeman’s Auctioneers in Philadelphia in the summer of 2006, where she was Head of Department for their Fine Jewelry and Watches sales until fall of 2012. Mrs. Waterhouse joined the Heritage Auctioneers Jewelry team in the fall of 2012, where she became their New York office’s first Jewelry Director.
Mrs. Waterhouse is a member of The American Society of Jewelry Historians and the GIA Alumni Association, and has had the pleasure of working as a jewelry appraiser for the PBS Antiques Roadshow Series, as well as appearing on NBC’s TODAY show as a general appraiser.
